A Painting for Valentine's Day

I woke up this morning in the mood to paint. Now, I don't paint super often, and even rarer am I spontaneously in the mood to paint, but today, I woke up and thought "Yes. That is what I want to do today."

So I made myself some breakfast, I checked my email, I had some tea (I'm trying to develop a taste for it in my year in London so I can come back with at least one new pretentious affectation of Britishness), and I did the chore-y housework-y stuff that I normally put off until I literally HAVE to do it, and got ready to paint. I got my pencils and erasers out. I got my palette and paints. Found my sketchbook and did some sketches to loosen up before I started. Got my paints, water, and spray bottle ready. Did my sketch on my watercolor paper and was ready to go.

And then I reached for my brushes. Oops, forgot to get them out. Looked where I thought they were. Nope. Looked where I thought they might  be. Nope. Looked where I was pretty much 100% positive they weren't. Still nothing. E-mailed Scott. No dice.

And now, over two hours later, I'll be damned if I can find my paint brushes. GUUUUH.

So then, since I had dragged all of my art supplies out already (minus, of course, the missing paintbrushes), I thought "May as well do something." So then I thought, "Ah, wouldn't it be nice to do a cute, seasonally appropriate Valentine's day drawing that I can hang up in the apartment  to get in the mood?"

This is what I ended up with- not exactly what I had in mind when I started, hah. I guess sometime's you're just not in the mood for Valentine's Day.

Luckily, there's still a week to get myself in the right frame of mind. And figure out what we're going to do to celebrate (did someone say "Fantastic Lady Day"?)

Now, off to buy some heart shaped junk to spruce up the apartment. Xo!

  1. So cute! Hope you can find some paint brushes, or at least some fun heart/pink stuff to get in the mood. I think the drawing is appropriate for a thwarted sort of day.
